Driftwood Necklace 2

This necklace is made from driftwood I collected on the shores of San Juan Inlet, maybe better know to some as where Port Renfrew is (a small community on the edge of it). I like to go to the middle and other side which is the Pacheedaht First Nations beach... and I love that their name translates into "Children of the Sea Foam".

Anyways... I will definitely write about it soon in my blog. Also the Campground is open all year round if you want to go. With some little yurt huts available if you don't want to camp.

This is one of the most unique patterns and tight rings I've ever found. If I had to guess I think it came from a yew wood burl. This piece I cut was leading right out of the ball of wood... of course it's hard to tell when everything has been bashing around on the beach until all bark is gone and edges are smooth.  After cutting and sanding I buffed in some pure bees wax.

It's on an adjustable cotton cord and I added a Sterling silver fish bead.
