Malcolm Island, where I live, is mostly made from rocks. Geologists believe it washed out of what is now the Nimpkish Valley during the ice age. The whales love it as they rub their bodies on the beach at a place here called Bere Point. Lots of the rocks I collect come from that area or a little further down the beach where they are smaller and flat, making the perfect size for earrings.
I also have some rocks that came from Nootka, given to me by an extended family member. These are so small and smooth. I am hoping to travel there soon as the area is not only beautiful, but also has a super rich history.
