The driftwood in my works of art is collected on the coast of BC, especially where the open ocean waves pound and shape the pieces smooth. The salt from the ocean soaks into the wood and then dries in the sun.. over and over again as the wind, waves and sand bare the grain of the wood, leaving the strongest parts more defined.
I love drift wood, the irregular shape of it, the romanticism of its journey... that it has been beat to s*** in the nastiest of weather and only ends up more beautiful. Like snowflakes in their originality... and when wearing it I feel closer to the ocean, more connected I guess.
